Eligibility and Support

At Autism Camp Australia, we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment where families can connect, learn, grow, and thrive. Below is everything you need to know about joining our programs, including eligibility requirements and the support available to families.

Who Can Attend?

Our program is designed for:

  • Autistic Young People (AYP) aged between 7-14 years.
  • Siblings of the AYP aged between 7-14 years, who will participate in a dedicated Sibling Program.
  • Parents/Guardians, who are supported through a tailored program designed to equip them with strategies, tools, and resources to support their family.

We welcome undiagnosed young people in our Autistic program. However, at least one young person in your family must have a formal Autism diagnosis. Please note that Autistic young people (diagnosed or undiagnosed) do not participate in the Sibling Program but instead engage in the AYP Program specifically tailored for them.

Eligibility Criteria:

To ensure our service is the best fit for your family, we ask that you meet the following criteria:

  • Participants in the Autistic Young Person (AYP) Program must be aged between 7-14 years.*
  • Siblings participating in the Sibling Program must also be aged between 7-14 years.*
  • At least one young person in your family must have a formal Autism diagnosis.
  • Your Autistic young person must have appropriate NDIS funding available or the ability to privately fund your participation.

*Exceptions to the age range may be made on a case-by-case basis, generally for children within six months either side of the age limit.

Family Enrolment Process

Our enrolment process ensures we gather all the necessary details to support your family’s unique needs and provide a seamless registration experience.

  1. Complete the Enrolment Form and Pay the Registration Fee

    • Begin the process by filling out our online Enrolment Form, which collects essential information about your family and Autistic Young Person.
    • A $560 registration fee is required at this stage to secure your family’s place in the program. This fee becomes non-refundable once the Service Agreement is signed.
  1. Bookings Team Support and Service Agreement

    • Our Bookings Team will contact your family to determine the best NDIS invoicing structure to use and address any potential issues.
    • This step is finalised when a Service Agreement is signed, confirming the family’s commitment and NDIS funding arrangements.
  1. Enrolment Process with Our Enrolments Team

    • In the two to three months leading up to the start date, our Enrolments Team works closely with families to finalise all details. This includes:
      • Collecting proof of a formal Autism diagnosis for the Autistic Young Person.
      • Distributing questionnaires to collect additional information about the young people participating.
      • Gathering medical, personal, and support details for all participants, including siblings.
      • Conducting a phone interview to understand your family’s needs, discuss goals, and ensure we can provide the best possible experience.
    • The enrolment process concludes with each AYP being matched to one of our neuroaffirming, Autism-trained support workers, along with a customised Social Story provided weeks before the program's start date.
  1. Attendance and Final Invoice

    • Families participate in the program and enjoy an enriching experience tailored to their needs.
    • The final invoice becomes payable on the last day of the program, covering the agreed-upon costs as outlined in the Service Agreement.
